Lectio Divina: Connecting With God in a Pandemic on Zoom
November 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until December 15, 2020
In a time of global pandemic, where many fear large in-person gatherings, many are searching for the connection with God they experience in the Mass, the Eucharist, and in other church services and sacraments. Enter Lectio Divina.
One of the most ancient, Christian, contemplative practices, Lectio Divina has been used for centuries by monastics, religious, and lay people alike. In this practice, which shares with all contemplative prayer the goal of deeper relationship with the Divine, you are invited to listen to sacred scripture with the ears of the heart, to gaze upon sacred icons or art with the eyes of the heart, and to increase your awareness of the subtle stirrings of the Holy One within your heart.
Learn the background and practice of Lectio Divina within a supportive group setting, empowering you to engage in this practice on your own to deepen your relationship with God, your awareness of the ways God communicates with you, personally, and your consciousness of God’s presence in all the events of your life. This group meets on Zoom for one hour for five weeks in November and December, 2020.
Lectio Divina will be facilitated by Celeste Calabotta who is a Spiritual Director and a member of the OLC Retreat Team.
