In The Friendship of Women, Joan Chittister explores the unique qualities women of the bible bring to friendships. These always result in new perspectives and new possibilities for life, and they usher others through a time of passage into the realization of a new life, the very definition of Lent.
Through an exploration of the characteristics of friendship exemplified in the stories of Ruth, Esther, and Miriam from the Hebrew Bible, we will reflect upon how these qualities in our own friends open us up to new possibilities within ourselves. We will also reflect upon how to embody these qualities as we befriend others.
This retreat day will include morning prayer, a retreat conference, an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass and lunch.
Presenter: Celeste Calabotta, music minister, pianist, teacher and retreat team member at Our Lady of Calvary is a Lay Carmelite and Spiritual Director.
