Our Silent Theme Retreat is designed for those who would like a quiet, less social retreat experience with some input, but more time for personal prayer and reflection.
Each day of the retreat will include Morning Prayer, followed by a presentation from a member of the retreat team, daily Mass and evening prayer. You will have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation during your retreat.
The World will be Saved by Beauty
Our spiritual path to God may begin with our attraction to beauty. The more we are aware of the beauty around and inside of us, the more beauty we project toward others. Beauty that flows from our hearts, reminds us of the source from which it comes: God.
Beauty has been described as the intersection where our physical bodies can hold both the desolation and despair and the joy of happiness of our lives – the place that gives our lives its deepest meaning
Come spend time looking for what is beautiful. Intentionally take time to focus on those things that lift you up and help you to feel closer to your God, the One who sends beauty to refresh, nurture, and sustain you, the One who invites you into beauty’s Immortal Heart. You may rediscover beautiful things that perhaps you’ve taken for granted.

OLC Book Club: New this Season
OLC Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:30. Our selection for January is Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Future titles will be selected on a monthly basis, with the help of suggestions from participants.
If you have not attended in the past you are very welcome to join us this month!
Sisters Mary O’Brien, CP, and Anna Marie Becker, CP, are the moderators. Long-time retreatants will remember Sister Anna Marie, whom we are happy to welcome back to OLC after nearly twenty years of service at a retreat center in Tennessee.
Come and see. Share your insights and your observations, your questions, and your enthusiasms. Interaction with other book lovers will enrich your understanding and appreciation of the books we share.
Call Our Lady of Calvary at (860) 677-8519 for more information about the book club and to sign up!

Shot on location in Assisi, The Assisi Underground shows the work of Father Ruffino, one of the “Righteous Gentiles,” in sheltering Italian Jews and transporting them to safety during the Nazi occupation. Unlike many World War II melodramas, this one rings true because it is true, and its good acting and simple direction add to the authenticity.
