Virginia Blass

Virginia Blass is an experienced and certified Spiritual Director, (certification from studies at Creighton University) preacher, retreat master, author, and teacher. Virginia has been engaged in ministry for over thirty years and offers spiritual direction, guided retreats, parish missions and programs, and consultation. Many of her programs are also offered via zoom. She was also a Special Education teacher for many years.

Virginia has long collaborated ministerially with the Passionists of the St. Paul of the Cross Province and the Jesuits of the Tri-Province. Additionally, Virginia is presently on staff at Our Lady of Calvary Retreat Center in Farmington, CT. and has served on retreat teams at Calvary Monastery in Shrewsbury, MA, Bishop Molloy Retreat Center in Jamaica, NY (renamed the Tom Berry Place), and Campion Center in Weston, MA. She continues as guest director at Eastern Point Retreat Center in Gloucester, MA, and other retreat locations. She especially enjoys offering retreats for Senior Religious Communities.

Her recent book, Experiencing God’s Compassion, published by Paulist Press in 2022, presents ten heartfelt stories of how the gift of God’s compassion transformed the lives of many. This writing also integrates aspects of Ignatian Spirituality and discernment.

Her passion is teaching and offering the gift of discernment, with a special dedication to the ministry of spiritual direction. Her style of spiritual direction is rooted within the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. St. Ignatius of Loyola’s guidance for the Director to ‘get out of the way’ of the loving promptings and invitations between God and the directee is highly evident and embraced.
